Dear Friends and Family,
We've heard you are just dying to start buying stuff for us and our baby-to-be, so we’ve created this page to aid you.
After much pressure from family that we MUST have an Easily Accessible Baby Registry at a National Chain Store, we finally caved and created a registry at Babies-Backwards R-Us. You can shop locally at Babies"R"Us or Toys"R"Us stores or online.
We would really love to have as many months of Diaper Service as we can get. The only service in our area is Diaper-Eze, out of Canton. Call them at 330-454-8723 or visit their web site: Diaper-Eze. (Service has already been started, so just ask to add to Blayne Murray's account.)
We are very much in favor of recycling, and your favorite hand-me-downs and other gently used baby items are valued and appreciated.
In general, we go for that earthy-birthy natural stuff. All cotton or other natural fiber baby clothes, organic baby care items like shampoo, baby oil, baby powder, diaper wipes, etc., (available at health food stores in brands like Weleda, Aubrey, Country Comfort, and others), and baby toys made of wood or other natural materials. We aren’t militant or anything, so if you slip in an occasional polyester blanket or plastic teething ring, we won’t shun you. Here is a website with links to dozens of companies selling all kinds of natural baby products online: Natural Baby Products. Or try this one: Mothering.com Shopping Guide.
We love books and imagine we will spend plenty of time reading to our baby. We would be happy to have you pick out some of your favorite children’s books for us.
We didn’t register for many baby clothes as we know how people love to pick out cute little outfits on their own and many of you will want to wait so you can buy gender-specific clothing. Other than our previously mentioned natural fiber fetish, you should know that Paul is an absolute nut for baby hats and believes no self-respecting baby should ever be seen without one. And I go ga-ga over baby socks. I mean gee whiz, they’re so tiny!
If you prefer to go the Pamper-the-Parents route, we won’t try to dissuade you. For instance, neither Paul nor I have ever had a professional massage or pedicure. Heck, it might even be fun. And of course, any help with housework, yard work, or meals after the baby comes will earn undying gratitude.
If nothing here appeals to you feel free to come up with your own ideas, or check back later as we will update this page if we think of anything else we can't live without!
